Nature and the Human Presence

Disconnected?

You’ve felt it — we all want to be at home within ourselves while feeling a part of a wider, living world. But far too often it’s our human condition to feel separated from what was once an all-encompassing Nature.

I share with my collectors art that represents not only natural settings, but also our human presence where it's harmonious and not destructive — environments that yield a serenity, a sense of having arrived at a place we were always intended to be.

I paint the quiet edges where human life and California's wild light meet, inviting you back into a felt sense of belonging with the land.

My work appears in private collections and has been exhibited at galleries throughout Northern California. I've frequently contributed paintings and photographs to art auctions that raise funds for the Arts and Arts Education, and for Public Television.

You're invited to trace a path through spaces that are Nature, yes — but are also human environs, that are fragile yet can be made sustainable if duly cared for. Explore Northern California's myriad settings through images handmade from brush and palette knife that turn your interior into a view and a story — connect.

“The miracle is not to walk on water. The miracle is to walk on the green earth, dwelling deeply in the present moment and feeling truly alive.” — Thic Nhat Hanh

'cornfield, yolo county' Is a fantastic piece, and i wanna go where those clouds are.”

“He's a self-professed cloud collector.... It's a beautiful piece. He references photos that he takes and integrates different skies with his imagination and creates a beautiful cloud-collected sky. He's inspired by using rich colors and a solid structure.”

['shoreline, gualala point regional park' is] a breath-taker and done by a consummately competent painter."

“He's able to imply what the details look like through his clever manipulation of the texture pallet-work...an artist that goes in and reworks it and scrubs it, makes that really organic and rich.”

— steve memering, artist, guest curator, kvie/pbs live art auction

In 'main street, mendocino' he combines human nature with this dreamy impressionistic style, [showing that] the Northern California coast is a place of retreat and renewal."

"The artist is using brushes and pallet knives to get these expressionistic strokes in his art, you have to really delve in and look closer and closer and then you just notice so much more about all these different colors and textures blending to create this really amazing piece."
